Join us for the inaugural performance of a new chamber music series featuring the Synergy Ensemble at the New York Anthroposophical Society.  The evening’s program explores musical works that guide us towards strength and light amid the increasing darkness of shorter days as autumn turns to winter. The program weaves a meditation on bridging worlds, culminating with one of the great pillars of the chamber music repertoire, Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14 “Death and the Maiden”. In 1824, when Schubert was ill and aware of his approaching death, composing this piece offered him a source of transformation, channeling his creativity in the face of the unknown.
